Nimmi Takkar

Director

Nimmi Takkar is a multilingual professional who brings a variety of experience in advocacy, campaigning, and communications. Nimmi found her passion for advocacy through her involvement in the student movement and has been a fierce advocate for a variety of social justice and environmental issues such as access to post secondary education, banning bottled water on campuses, No Tankers campaign, and the UPassNow Campaign.

Nimmi’s previous professional roles have include leadership roles in a variety of not-for profit, government and political organizations, including serving as the Temporary Executive Director of Vision Vancouver for six months. Given Nimmi’s familiarity with the organization she is ready to hit the ground running, and to roll up our sleeves and talk to Vancouverites about issues that are important to them and their families.

Currently Nimmi is fortunate to live, work and play on the Coast Salish Territories, in East Vancouver. Nimmi is currently working in the provincial public service, and in her free time enjoys walking the seawall with her partner and puppy, or curling up with a good book in front of the fireplace.
