Wei Qiao Zhang, 36, can well relate to young people in the city, struggling to raise a family. Wei will excel as a city councillor, given his knowledge, skills, and experience, gained in a decade of public service work.

Wei started his career in social service, having worked on the edge of Chinatown and the Downtown East Side as an Employment Councillor, for one of the largest non-profit organizations in Canada. In the past five years, Wei served as the Constituency Assistant to Don Davies, Member of Parliament of Vancouver Kingsway.  

Wei is a phenomenal cross-cultural communicator and an opinion leader, well respected in immigrant communities in Vancouver. He is a producer and host of a popular TV talk show in Mandarin and English, broadcasted on three local TV networks, aiming to build dialogues between communities.

Wei immigrated from China 15 years ago, graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Philosophy and Sociology. He speaks fluent Mandarin, some Cantonese and German.

Wei is a father of two, lives in East Vancouver with his wife who is pursuing a PhD in Law at UBC. Wei grew up with a passion in art, particularly in music, and was trained professionally in basketball and rugby, played in international games.
