Vision Vancouver builds on campaign momentum with new positive outreach

Vancouver – In the latest step preparing for this fall’s municipal elections, Mayor Gregor Robertson and theVision Vancouver team are reflecting the diversity of the city with the launch of a significant new ad campaign on local Chinese-language radio and television outlets.

The new video and audio messages feature the Mayor speaking in both Mandarin and Cantonese, and complement ongoing English-language ads already being shared online. Both messages focus on the Mayor’s work to keep Vancouver moving forward, by building new affordable housing, growing an innovative economy, and making Vancouver the greenest city in the world.

“Vancouver is one of the most diverse and inclusive cities anywhere in the world, and it’s important that all of its voices be included in the shaping of our city’s future,” said Mayor Gregor Robertson. “I’m focused on the positive priorities that will keep Vancouver moving forward, such as building new affordable housing, cutting congestion with a new Broadway Subway, supporting our Greenest City Action Plan, and standing up against a seven-fold increase in oil tanker traffic through our local waters.”

Vision Vancouver is also launching a new Youku video channel, providing a new space for the direct sharing of online video content to Vancouver’s Chinese-speaking citizens.

Vision Vancouver has announced that former Park Board Chair Niki Sharma will be joining Mayor Robertson and seven incumbents as a candidate for City Council, while members vote for remaining nominations for School Board and Park Board on June 22.
