Mike Lombardi has served on the Vancouver School Board since 2008, and has held roles as the Board’s Vice Chairperson, and Chairperson.

Mike is known for his unwavering advocacy on behalf of Vancouver’s students, teachers, staff, and parents. A champion of student leadership, he was the driving force behind the VSB’s first-ever student trustee position, an innovation now being modeled in many school districts throughout Canada. He and Vision Vancouver’s determination to fight for safer Vancouver schools resulted in more than $300 million in additional funding for seismic upgrades and new school construction.

Prior to his election with Gregor Robertson and the Vision Vancouver team, Mike served in the public education system for 35 years as a teacher, teacher educator, and professional development expert. He is a leader in the Italian community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Italian Cultural Centre. He is also President of the Basilicata Association of Vancouver, and has participated on advisory committees of the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Canada.

A longtime Vancouver resident, Mike attended Vancouver public schools and holds a masters degree in Education from the University of British Columbia, and a bachelor’s degree from Simon Fraser University. He has three adult children who all attended Vancouver public schools, and he lives in Kitsilano.
