What we've done: 
  • Helped land new offices in Vancouver for major companies including Pixar, Sony Imageworks, Canon Canada, and Telus
  • Achieved the lowest overall property tax rate of any Metro Vancouver municipality for 2011
  • Vancouver recognized as having the most competitive tax rate of any major city by KPMG
  • Named most innovative organization in BC by BC Business magazine for the City’s leading work on open data policies with city information
  • Despite record deficits due to a historic global recession, Vision did not cut city funding to arts and culture programs
  • Metro Vancouver Commerce, the Olympic business program championed by Mayor Robertson and the Vancouver Economic Development Commission, landed $85 million in direct investment for Vancouver
  • Saved the historic York Theatre, which will be restored and operated as a community performance space by the Vancouver East Cultural Centre
  • Introduced red-tape cutting measures to make it easier for local performance spaces to open, operate, and hold events
  • Introduced Summer Live, a free, three-day concert in Stanley Park featuring top local talent to celebrate Vancouver’s 125th anniversary
  • Partnered with the federal government on major upgrades to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the Orpheum, and the Malkin Bowl
  • Oversaw the upgrade of the City’s debt outlook by Moody’s, due to strong sales at the Olympic Village
