Local artists, comedians, film makers, writers and graphic artists are collaborating to show their support for Mayor Robertson and the Vision Vancouver team with the launch of www.webacktheJuiceman.ca.
The site will be home to projects created by local artists and performers in Vancouver showing their support for Vision, as well as highlighting why they won’t be supporting the NPA on November 19th.
“We wanted to do something to show our support for Mayor Robertson and Vision,” said Sean Devlin, a local comedian and the creative director of Truthfool communications, which created the s***harperdid.com website. "Having knocked on doors during the 2008 election, I wanted to contribute more creatively this time around. We're doing that while simultaneously developing a space for others to make creative contributions.
“Mayor Robertson has a positive agenda focused on real issues like housing, transit, and the environment while the NPA only seems to complain. It made for an easy choice, which is why in this election, we’re backing the juice man.”
The contributors to webackthejuiceman.ca are also organizing a timeraiser for Vision Vancouver, an innovative event whereby people can bid on items donated from local artists by offering to volunteer their time on Mayor Robertson’s campaign. The timeraiser will be taking place on Monday, October 24th, at the Waldorf Hotel.
A video of local artists supporting Vision and promoting the timeraiser was launched today at webackthejuiceman.ca.
“A timeraiser is a great way to reach out to younger people to get involved in local politics, and at the same time give profile to Vancouver’s artists,” said Cam Reed, a contributor to webackthejuiceman.ca and festival director of Music Waste and the Victory Square Block Party. “We care about Vancouver’s future and support the direction Mayor Robertson is leading the city. The fact that the NPA are running a campaign entirely on anger only reinforces why we want to help Mayor Robertson get re-elected.”
