(Vancouver) Bob Ransford, the campaign manager for 2008 NPA mayoral candidate Peter Ladner, is supporting Gregor Robertson and Vision Vancouver in this election, citing Vision's track record of steady leadership, in contrast to a disorganized, out-of-touch NPA team.
"Gregor Robertson and the Vision Vancouver council have provided strong, steady leadership on issues like affordable housing and public transit," said Ransford, a public affairs consultant and Vancouver Sun columnist who speacilizes in urban land-use issues. "Vancouver faces some serious challenges in the coming years, whether it's making smart planning decisions or addressing our affordability crisis, and Gregor Robertson and the Vision Vancouver team are the ones with a plan to meet these challenges head-on."
Ransford, who was the campaign manager for Peter Ladner's mayoral nomination in 2008, worked with several of this year's NPA candidates last election, including mayoral candidate Suzanne Anton. He says that there is too much at stake to risk voting for an untested group of candidates, including Suzanne Anton.
"As someone who worked closely with the NPA in the last election, I don't take my decision to support Vision lightly," said Ransford. "But Suzanne Anton and the NPA have the wrong priorities for Vancouver. The current NPA candidates are inexperienced, constantly contradicting one another, and have run a highly negative campaign, instead of one focused on the big issues in Vancouver.
"It's too risky for voters to support Suzanne Anton and the NPA in this election on November 19th."
